I’d like to echo what Mike Traverse said. There is an API. With a simple bit of Googling I found a v5 and a v6 API documented, though not by BG. I suspect it’s not supported, and therefore subject to change. However, I was able to create a Node Red application, a couple of years ago that allowed me to control a fan based on the temperature inside my house.

I’ve got a couple of smart bulbs, and to be honest, they’re a real pain. As soon as someone switches the light off at the wall switch, they’re useless.

I want a smart light switch. I don’t buy the story about it not being possible in the UK. Why not make a normal light switch, and add logic to it?

This is something I've also been asking for. I know it's possible because I've written a Node-RED application that does just that - switches a plug on when temperature is >=25 and off when temperature is < 25.

    Hi everyone,

We now have IFTTT support for light bulbs, hooray! If you want to use the light bulbs and sensors together you can create your own ‘Actions’ within the Hive app.

Hive Actions allow you to set triggers and actions for your Hive Active Heating™ or any Hive sensor, Hive Active Plug™ or Hive Active Light™ that you have helping to make your home work for you.

    Thanks for the feedback!
    The Hive team
