  1. Landlord Mode

We own a self catering holiday let, the property being some distance from our home. Hive is ideal for our needs but would be perfect if it had a "Landlord" mode, for example, lock the thermostat controls to prevent:

    • Users from configuring Hive from the thermostat.

    • Or a complete lock to prevent any local adjustments.

    • Set an upper and/or lower limit on thermostat temperature settings.

    • Stop users from turning heating on during "Frost Protect".

    All features to be optional.

  2. Prevent temperature overshoot

    Scenario:
Heating scheduled to come on at 6am to heat the flat to 21 deg. Boiler switches off when the flat reaches 21, but the leftover heat in the radiators heats the house to 24, wasting energy and money.
    Solution:
The hive system learns that temperature is 'likely' to overshoot, so pauses heating for a while when the flat reaches 18 degrees, to 'see' if that still heats the room up.

  3. BATTERY LIFE!!!

YOU SERIOUSLY NEED TO LOOK AT THE POWER CONSUMPTION OF THE HIVE ROOM THERMOSTAT, THE BATTERIES NEED REPLACING EVERY FEW WEEKS, THESE ARE DURACELL BATTERIES NOT CHEAP EQUIVALENT BRANDS.
I AM CONSIDERING REMOVING THE HIVE SYSTEM,TO HAVE TO REPLACE THE BATTERIES SO OFTEN MAKES IT AN EXPENSIVE SYSTEM TO CONTROL FROM YOUR PHONE!!!

  4. When will you release radiator thermostat valves to work with hive, like the tado ones?

Come on British gas, move with the times, thermostatic radiator valves like tado make.
You are falling so far behind the nest system

  5. Underfloor heating controller

Could an underfloor heating controller be added for electric heating mats.

They are a pain to program and read temperature

  7. Standalone room thermometers

Provide standalone room temperature sensors which provide feedback from each room. Be able to add as many inputs as you wish. This would assist in perfecting the efficiency of your heating system as well as being able to balance out your radiator outputs if trv's are fitted.

  8. Thermostat Calibration

My thermostat consistently shows a temperature that is about 3 degrees above the actual room temperature. As we have to add an offset to get the correct level of heating it would be useful to have a calibrate thermostat function

  9. Loft wireless temperature sensor

In addition to having the house temperature an additional temperature sensor for the loft would be a great asset. My biggest fear is frozen tanks or pipes in the loft and knowing how cold it is up there in winter would allow me to put on more heating etc to ensure the loft never falls below 5 degrees. Even if this was just worked like a frost stat that turned on the heating on that sensor would be of great benefit.

  10. shorter boost times

would you be able to reduce the boost time to (say) ten minute intervals. The present one hour minimum is good, but a little wasteful in my opinion if you just want to take the chill off.

  11. Power adaptor for thermostat

Instead of relying on batteries (new Duracells lasted 3 days) power via a transformer option would be handy.

  12. Electric Underfloor heating controller

Would be great if I could have full control of my underfloor heating, able to set it up like the heating

  13. Hysteresis selection

Hysteresis is currently fixed at +0.5-0.5 deg C. (E.g. if temperature is set to 20 then it will cycle between 19.5 and 20.5 C). In a house where the temperature response is slow this is a noticeably wide temperature range - if my wife thinks it's too cold when the 'stat reads 19.5 she will turn it up, even though this is the lowest it will get to and the boiler will already be running. It would be very useful to select +/- 0.25 C, or even allow it to be set in increments of 0.1 C (probably overkill). Some…

  14. Thermostat

While battery's powering the thermostat is a great idea, this should also have the feature of being able to be connected to a permanent live feed then the battery's could be rechargeable and no need to replace them on a regular basis.

This would negate the need for replacing battery's and is better for the environment

  18. Beware! Hive Active Heating NOT COMPATIBLE with Google Home

Hive, can you confirm when thermostat will have full integration with Google Home? Because currently it is not compatible, and the advertising is just plain misleading.

Lights and plugs are fully integrated with Google Home, but Active Heating is not. When you try to add the thermostat as a new device on the Google Home app, the login screen you are redirected to even shows the Active Heating control in the background!!! This is wrong and misleading, and judging from customers feedback on here and on social media, this is just a disgrace.

You already have full integration with Amazon…

  19. change default temperature for boost from 22 degrees

the temperature in my house is usually 20 degrees. when I use the boost function on hive it defaults the temperature to 22 which turns my heating on and then I turn the target temperature down to 20 degrees which shortly after turns the boiler off again. I want to use the boost function to keep the temperature at 20 degrees for a few hours while I have visitors. I'm concerned that turning the boiler on and off again in quick succession increases the wear and tear on the heating system.

could you change the default boost temperature to 15…

  20. have the option to have the display on the hive thermostat 2 always on or on longer than the default setting

The Hive Thermostat 2 on the website and packaging is slightly misleading it suggest the display is always on, however this is not the case. the display turns of after a few seconds. would be nice to have it permanently on or set how long it stays on for.
