Temperature Trend Data
It would be great if you could add extra data to the temperature graphs you show on the website dashboard. For example:
- outside temperature
- a barchart superimposed to show when "call for heat" sent to boiler (giving an approximation of gas usage)
- average temperature set point (thermostat value) in the postcode/region
- ultimately a "heat map" of the UK showing regional temperatures would be great!
Should have bought Nest. Much better functionality than Hive.
Come on hive, this is not a difficult feature to add
Planned since Jan 2017... You guys got devs in Europe and awaiting brexit to happen or something.??
3000 votes and still not implemented. What's taking so long?
Here's some software for landlords to have full remote control of the Hive schedule, temperature and boost while logging all temperature data to excel. You can set a 'master schedule' and then this will always be used even if the schedule is adjusted on the thermostat or in the app. https://quantum-key.net/AppPages/204-British-Gas-Hive-Landlord-Control.htm
The iOS and Android apps really should have in-app graphs already. Especially ones that show temperature and heating on/off history.
I was forced to install hive after a cable failure meant my old Tado system was no longer workable. I can't believe how "dumb" this new system is in comparison though. No location control (only notifications), no weather compensation, no draft detection, no in-app graphs of heating history and no overshoot protection either. It's little more than a traditional thermostat with an internet connection reallly. Even the "ready by" feature only works when it's warm outside and the heating doesn't need to come on too far in advance! Very disappointed in the whole system really and missing my old Tado thermostat more and more every day!
An updated logging app for Windows is available here:
I've made a Windows Desktop app to record the data and log it to an Excel file so you can create graphs etc and analyse it. I'm also working on an improved version that lets you automatically override the controls if someone messes with them without you realising and set them back to something sensible automatically. The logger is here and the full version is £5 :
When is this planned for, been waiting 5 years

As a regular user of hive along with all my family, I would like to be notified by email or text when my heating was turned on by say another family person other than myself . This idea will save me a lot of money stopping my children from turning it on and off all the time

Hive have admitted they no longer monitor this forum and it’s just for customers to discuss ideas. Complete waste of time posting anything here.
Wow, raised in November 2013 (I added a comment in Nov 2014), and it is still 'planned'!!! Actually the planned date appears to be Jan 17, 2017 ….do I need to point out it is June 2018? Having the heating 'called' time is the only addition I really need to determine how efficient my system is, hence coming back here to check the progress.
Has this idea been dropped? Surely British Gas/Hive can understand how important it is?
It looks like people have stopped voting for it, as I guess they think it is being implemented anyway.
Please (please, please, please) implement this feature.

Vote added for boiler on/off chart (e.g. as percentage of timeslot). I set up a warning if the house gets hot (e.g. naughty kids) but can't tell if it is due to the outside temperature or the boiler.
showing when the boiler is calling for heat us being able to see when the outside temperature affects the internal temperature and reduces the need for the boiler to fire would be great. other smart heating system have this ability.
I was really disappointed to see that the Heating Temperature History doesn't show when Boiler is on or off . I would have thought this was fairly basic requirement for a boiler control system !!
When will this function be available?
It seems that a lot of people are asking for it, yet very little action is being taken.
Improve the product, seek customer satisfaction and give the customer what they want from a continually developing smart world!!
This app logs all Hive temperature data and exports is to an Excel file. https://quantum-key.net/AppPages/196-British-Gas-Hive-data-logger.htm

I agree with all the other users who have said a download for this set of data would be really useful so we can review heating settings and optimise them.

An enterprising developer would write an API and embed it in an app so people can download it to their phone and it will record all this information into tables that can be exported as a CSV or visualized onto graphs.
I would like to see the following available on Hive
1) Outside Temperature
2) Boiler on and off (Firing period)
3) Boiler water temperature
4) Gas consumption from my Smart meter either directly or by manual input.
Between the above and what is already available on Hive I would be able to Optimise the boilers operation more efficiently
